Paraguay claims Venezuelan gov't violates human rights

Paraguayan President Horacio Cartes on Friday said “the world has witnessed abuses suffered by the Venezuelan people,” and he added that Paraguay, as a Member State of the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) cannot “remain silent” with respect to this situation. “When human rights and fundamental liberties are not observed, just like it is happening in Venezuela right now, we cannot remain silent,” Cartes stressed during a speech at the Congress apropos the annual report of the Executive Office.
